Ukraine's EXTREME POWER OPEN AIR Festival Cancelled

August 8, 2007

The Extreme Power Open Air festival — which was scheduled to be held September 15 in Kiev, Ukraine (featuring performances by KREATOR, HATESPHERE, SICK OF IT ALL, GRAVE DIGGER, PRO-PAIN and ILLDISPOSED) — has been cancelled. The festival organizer has issued the following statement explaining the cancellation:

"I'm really sorry, but I must inform you that Extreme Power Open Air [on] September 15 [has been] cancelled. We are [rescheduling] it to spring 2008. At September 30 at Ukraine will be pre-term elections. President of Ukraine decided about it 2.5 month ago, he thinks that it help Ukraine come out from political crisis. When at Ukraine elections everything is stop. For make the festival we need to much documents (bureaucracy) like agrees from city administration for outdoors venue, from ministry of culture, from central police department for security at the festival...etc. etc. etc. We are waited for all this papers more that 2 month, and still don't receive it. Usually it makes maximum 10 days. All problem that all officials, deputies…etc. that must sing our papers haven't time look for it, they are busy, they just think only about their elections, about how they can stay on the head again... and nothing more.... We tried to compel them to sign... but nothing. So before festival 40 days and we haven't all papers that we need, also sponsors that are ready interested at sponsoring festival, don't want to pay money before we show them all this documents. So this is so stupid situations.... and we lose a lot of money at promotion of festival, but we haven't any chances to organize it this September, we must cancel. I'm really sorry. I'm still looking forward to see your bands at our festival at spring 2008, and hope we can to change date at contacts."
